Did You Know?
Moving to renewables
Rooftop solar uses solar photovoltaic (PV) panels to turn sunlight into electricity. PV panels can be installed on your roof, or even in your yard. They produce no carbon emissions and can save you thousands of dollars annually.
If rooftop solar doesn't work for you, you may be able to participate in a Community Solar program. When paired with home battery storage, rooftop solar can keep your home powered in the event of grid outages. Going solar at a community scale may be facilitated by municipal or local programs and also through co-ops.

Upfront costs
$17,000–$24,000 (after tax credits)
Benefits:
-
Electricity bills in the state have been steadily increasing in recent years. Solar PVs costs have decreased in recent years, being even less costly than using fossil fuels per kWh produced.
-
Lower energy bills: Help to partially or totally offset your energy costs.
-
Possibility of credits: If your system generates more energy than you use, utility companies give you credits you can use to offset future bills, further saving on energy costs.
-
Energy independence: Since solar panels continue to produce electricity as long as the sun shines, you can keep producing energy during outages.
-
Reduce your carbon footprint: Solar panels don’t produce greenhouse emissions or air pollution.
-
Higher home market value:
